24" x 18 oil on canvas
St.Michael's Church is situated in the picturesque Cotswold village of Guiting Power. I regularly jog past this beautiful Church and couldn't resist the idea of painting it.
Of course, there are no black and white tiles at the entrance but these have become one of my signatures and their inclusion was helpful with the narrative of the painting. You might spot a couple of tiles to the right awaiting placement. In the foreground, an area without tiles forms a familiar shape. I've deliberately left the gate open and have tried to draw the viewers eye to this entrance, to the focal point itself, by highlighting the grass banks. Another clue to the narrative is the street lamp...you'll notice it is on. Perhaps the biggest indication of what the painting is about lies in the title itself.
