This painting is another example of how my work evolves from the start point
of an outdoor oil sketch to a finished studio piece and is significant for being the first time I took my floor tiles outside.
I love to work outside. I can breath in and mentally absorb the beauty of the
surroundings, the energy and the natural drama and colour that nature provides.
It's then really a case of letting my mind have some fun, have a wander.
This scene is based on a little road island at a T junction near the village
of Upper Slaughter. It does actually exist, but if you were to stand at the point
where my easel was you might be mystified. That's just the way I paint though,
I rarely paint what I see in front of me but I do get huge inspiration from it.
Take a walk through that gap in the wall I've created and explore beyond.
